PRAYER TOUR GUIDE
LESS DIVIDE BETWEEN THE RICH AND THOSE EXPERIENCING POVERTY
Within the neighborhood of Chelsea, Manhattan, people are experiencing a great finacial divide. This neighborhood is unique because the rich live right across the street from individuals experiencing poverty. This has created marginalization and has created a hyper-gentrified neighborhood. We stand today outside of AVENUEs - one of the most prestigious schools in all of the world. AVENUES in unique as it sits right across the street from the Cheslea-Elliott houses. Students from AVENUES often express feeling a divide from kids their age they see who live in these houses and vice vera.

NYCHA REBUILDS
There are only 2 NYCHA buildings located in Chelsea and we have the honor of serving both of these communities. Cheslea-Elliott was built in 1961 and Fulton was built in 1965.
Right now the city is deciding on whether or not to demolish and rebuild these over 60 year old buildings. If passed, nearly 5,000 people will face having to temporarily move to new homes while the process begins of rebuilding. This has a lot of people nervous about potential displacement while others are excited about the prospect. This has been a very controversial idea as these buildings are not holding up well but also is complicated due to navigating the people who call these buildings home.
PRAYER POINTS:
Guidance from the city on what to do about this situation.
Peace over the tenants
Protection over potential displacement of families and individuals who live here.
